Kim Blankenburg began her career in the mental health and human services field when she was a teenager, helping those with special needs.  After graduating from college she worked for a large agency in CT supervising group homes.  The work was demanding and she was on call at all hours of the day.  She was responsible for the overall operations, training and supervision of staff to ensure the needs of the individuals, with a wide array of disabilities, were being met.  After decades of doing this work, Kim wanted a release from the demanding hours, but she did not want to stop working with people with disabilities.  While in massage therapy school she completed her externship with a Physical Therapist where she provided massage therapy to children and adults with varying special needs in a variety of settings such as private homes, school settings, residential/group home settings and day programs.  She also worked as  a Rehabilitation Coordinator, where she provided assistance for those who need help finding appropriate adaptive equipment, mobility devices or orthotic care.

She hopes that parents and/or caregivers of children and adults with special needs will become more aware of the benefits of massage and those they take care of will have an opportunity to experience positive touch in a nurturing environment. Her goal is to get the word out to different organizations, support groups, and families of how beneficial massage is not only for babies, but for children and adults with special needs as well.

Kim believes that massage therapy has a positive impact for all people. She believes that giving the gift of positive touch is healing for both the body and the mind. When she is not working in her private practice, she also teaches a variety of massage therapy courses to students who are currently in a massage therapy program at Branford Hall Career Institute.
